This is a new knockdown-rebuild project in Epping, where the client wishes to construct a distinctive new house for their growing family. The family consists of three children and grandparents living together, making spatial planning a natural focus of the design.

On this rear-sloping site of over 700 square meters, we aim to utilize the sloped terrain to create more indoor and outdoor activity spaces to meet the client's needs. A carefully planned void and split-level design allows for the creation of a villa with a three-story feel, even under regulations that permit only two levels. This approach provides a comfortable and flexible living experience for family members of different ages while maintaining connectivity without sacrificing private spaces.

For the exterior, we combined stone with moldable yet weighty concrete and curved-edge elements to give the building a sense of timelessness and dynamism. The three-story concrete structure with double-brick walls enables us to maximize the potential of the site's height restrictions, creating more spatial possibilities. The project is currently under construction, and we hope the family will enjoy a comfortable and happy life in their new home.
